Young Economists' Meeting 2016
June 2-3 in Brno


We thank all those who attended the Young Economists' Meeting 2016 in Brno. During two days participants from 30 universities presented and discussed more than 50 presentations. The Best Paper Award prize was presented to Greta Morando for the paper "Determinants and spillover effect of choosing Mathematics at secondary school. Exploiting a curricular reform in England." Participants also highly rated the keynote lectures delivered by Stijn Baert and Jakub Steiner.

Keynote speakers

Stijn Baert

Stijn Baert (Ghent University) focuses in his research on labour market discrimination and transitions from school to work. In 2013 Stijn became the president of the European Association of Young Economists and he is also a member of the Executive Committee in the European Association of Labour Economists. He ranks among the top 100 young economists worldwide. 

Jakub Steiner (CERGE-EI and University of Edinburgh) studies behavior in strategic situations with the possibility of self-fulfilling prophecies such as those that arise during currency attacks, bank runs, and revolutions. Jakub has published in journals such as the American Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Theory, Theoretical Economics, and Games and Economic Behavior.

Publication of papers

After the conference we will encourage researchers to submit their papers to the peer reviewed journal Review of Economic Perspectives. All submissions go through a regular refereeing process and the deadline for submissions (to be published in Winter 2016) is June 30, 2016.
